Patient perspectives

keep forgetting my exercises, need digital info, not paper

1. In the NYT today, there is an article on how PT is much more personal and intense than interactions with a surgeon or MD – interesting read.

2. While looking for a picture, I found this one on Flickr. What I found interesting was this person’s title – “keep forgetting my exercises, need digital info, not paper.” I don’t think technology is the answer for everyone, but if it helps with their adherence to a HEP, why not? I have only encountered ExercisePro in my clinicals thus far. I think there would be a market for the ability to be able to send your patient/ client an electronic HEP, with optional Twitter or email reminders (daily, 2-3x/day at their selected times, etc) set up automatically. Of course, there may be concern about your prescription for rotator cuff issues may be sent to someone who was not your patient who may have something more, but you could attach a disclaimer to the document. Just an idea – hope it is out there, if not and I have the ability I’ll figure out what I can do and pass it on!
