Interesting study in the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation. They found that balance is impaired in those with diabetes and peripheral neuropathy, as well as those with diabetes but no PN compared to controls. Possible reasons they cite include diabetic effects on the vestibular system or on the cognition. I would be interested to see why they excluded 14 individuals after taking them into the study (why not intent to treat? Could the inclusion/ exclusion criteria be set better to eliminate the issue while still addressing the research question?). You can check out the study here as it is Open Access:
